Just when I thought I knew stuff ~ I don’t know nothing about anything…

Just when I thought I knew stuff ~ I don’t know nothing about anything…

Found this Brisbane based six piece band, Cheap Fakes  by listening to Triple J’s Roots n All.

This is a song that feels rather too close to my heart ♥

It seems just as I get close to thinking I know something I find I know nothing about anything…

The lyrics bring a truth that isn’t negative – it just is – and the upbeat tone of the music and the smiling faces of the band members is contagious and I think I just found a whole new LIVE act to follow :)  Listen here and Enjoy….  What do you think?  Luv it or Hate it?  I’d be interested to know…

Happy Australia Day ♥

Happy Australia Day ♥

Happy Australia Day…

Hope most of you had a dry and safe day.  It’s been very wet here in Queensland over the past few days with many celebration/festivals cancelled and parts of NSW are having their fair share of the big wet!  Hope it didn’t hamper too many celebrations and that you had a good day!

As I’ve talked about here , I listened to the Hottest 100 on Triple J and most of the songs I voted for came in and I actually enjoyed the countdown from 100-20 more than the top twenty itself (slightly disappointed).  But I was really happy with the top 8.  And of course I knew Gotye would get #1 – no surprises there!  Well done to Wally and Kimbra.  I thought it would be a battle between Gotye and Matt Corby but Matt came in at #3 and I was pretty stoked that The Black Keys made #2.  Hoorah!  Click here for the full list.

Anyway, that’s it for another year – until the album release.  I love the Hottest 100 –it’s celebrated on Australia Day, it’s music, it’s Triple J and many of the artists are Australian and damn fine ones at that. And here’s No: 1 – Enjoy  ♥

And just for something different here is Matt Corby’s ‘Like a Version’ of the #2 spot for ‘The Black Keys – Lonely Boy’.  It’s not the pumpy, rock out version of the brilliant Black Keys but it’s pretty brilliant just the same.  Let me know what you think…

Midnight rambler about to curl up with iPod and Triple J as have just received another one of those creepy, severe storm alerts for the northern suburbs and Moreton bay in which I live…Here we go again!

Friday fun, knife parties and the growl…

Friday fun, knife parties and the growl…

Hey, it’s Friday and I was going to write a blog about something rather interesting to do with writing, research and piracy but…it’s now 2am Friday morning, not been to bed yet and had somewhat of a stressful day/week – so in light of all that, I decided I wanted to write a fun, post for Friday.  It’s the last day of the working week before the weekend which hopefully will be filled with awesomeness for all of you!

So for fun and silliness I’m posting this song coz it makes me laugh and think evil, devilish thoughts and puts me in the perfect frame of mind for writing something organic and a bit off centre.

Internet friends – Knife Party  Enjoy ♥  Warning: Bad words…

And just a reminder that the Triple J Hottest 100 has now closed and the countdown will begin in six days on Thursday (Australia Day) check here for times in your region and party on…A huge contender I reckon for No: 1 besides Gotye is someone I didn’t vote for but wished I had is Matt Corby for his song Brother!

And for awesome grittiness, and inspiration for writing the kinda stories I can really sink my teeth into, is listening to this great Triple J unearthed band that I’m totally digging, and will be voting for next year –  yep I’m getting in early – is these guys – The Growl.  Check em out.  They will also feature in the side bar for the next week:  ‘I wipe the soot from my pistol and the blood from my shoes, coz I aint the same type of killer as you…’

Enjoy and have a fun weekend!
