Belladonna is a short story set in a remote part of New Zealand during the 1940′s.  The story lays the foundation of the violent history within the house which acts as a precursor to my novel Potter’s Field, set fifteen years later.

It’s 1948 in rural New Zealand.  Lillian, a fifteen year old broken from the loss of her mother finds herself pregnant to the boy she hoped could save her from her violent father.  Instead she finds herself in the most remote part of the country she could ever imagine, with a father who is determined to punish her for her sins.
