Happy Australia Day ♥

Happy Australia Day ♥

Happy Australia Day…

Hope most of you had a dry and safe day.  It’s been very wet here in Queensland over the past few days with many celebration/festivals cancelled and parts of NSW are having their fair share of the big wet!  Hope it didn’t hamper too many celebrations and that you had a good day!

As I’ve talked about here , I listened to the Hottest 100 on Triple J and most of the songs I voted for came in and I actually enjoyed the countdown from 100-20 more than the top twenty itself (slightly disappointed).  But I was really happy with the top 8.  And of course I knew Gotye would get #1 – no surprises there!  Well done to Wally and Kimbra.  I thought it would be a battle between Gotye and Matt Corby but Matt came in at #3 and I was pretty stoked that The Black Keys made #2.  Hoorah!  Click here for the full list.

Anyway, that’s it for another year – until the album release.  I love the Hottest 100 –it’s celebrated on Australia Day, it’s music, it’s Triple J and many of the artists are Australian and damn fine ones at that. And here’s No: 1 – Enjoy  ♥

And just for something different here is Matt Corby’s ‘Like a Version’ of the #3 spot for ‘The Black Keys – Lonely Boy’.  It’s not the pumpy, rock out version of the brilliant Black Keys but it’s pretty brilliant just the same.  Let me know what you think…

Midnight rambler about to curl up with iPod and Triple J as have just received another one of those creepy, severe storm alerts for the northern suburbs and Moreton bay in which I live…Here we go again!

Never enough hours in a day – right? Well that’s certainly how I feel most of the time – which reminds me of the great analogy from Dr Wayne Dyer when he talks about how we chase our tail looking for happiness – have a listen here to his important message about chasing happiness.

And speaking of not enough hours in the day and chasing the tail and forgetting to breathe –  if you haven’t checked it out already, here is Nicole Cody’s week long tips in self nurturing.

Some of the things I learned from Nicole this week are:

1. That it’s okay to laugh – I have a very loud laugh and sometimes feel self conscious but Nicole says it’s okay, and in fact, really good to laugh – so I shall continue to do so :)
2. My daily dose of sunshine is great for my health – no more guilts about getting a tan ♥
3. I need more sleep…
4. My love of music and addiction to youtube is a good thing :)
5. My love of film is healthy – perhaps I don’t have to justify it as research after all…
6. Setting boundaries and saying nice things to and about myself. Hmmm…that’s a tough one but I’m working on it.
7. Appreciate the small things in life of which I give gratitude each and every day.
8. That standing up for myself and what I believe in is not a bad thing as some people would have me think.

9. Meditate – WOW! This was a biggie. I’m the worst meditater in the world and Nicole has this fab one minute meditation on Day 4 that is totally awesome and makes me happy to meditate for one minute every day! Something that’s achievable and actually worthwhile. One minute – just one minute – who knew!
10. Confirming why I love to walk by the beach every single day ♥ It makes me happy, it fills my soul with joy and connects me to nature.
11. Why I should stop multi tasking and find the time to read more…
12. Sit under a tree and introduce myself (this is where I went horribly wrong) I didn’t introduce myself to the Moreton Bay fig and it knocked me flying. Got hit on the head by the massive branch of powerful energy and it literally threw me to the ground! That will teach me for not paying attention…

What did you learn this week? I’d love to hear how you nurture your creative spirit, your soul, fill your creative cup and how you simple BE on this great beautiful earth ♥

Midnight rambler has progressed to the wonderful five minute guided meditation on day 5.
